About
I'm Ben Schneider, a web developer and digital strategist focused on creating websites that are both visually striking and technically sound. With a background spanning front-end development, UX design, and content strategy, I bring a holistic approach to every project.
After honing my skills as a digital producer at Merck and Chevron, I founded Develop IT Ben to help clients across diverse industries establish effective digital presences.
I specialize in building accessible, responsive websites that not only look great but also perform exceptionally well. My expertise includes WordPress development, custom theme creation, and implementing user-friendly solutions that drive results. From voice actors to cultural institutions, I pride myself on delivering websites that truly represent my clients' unique identities and meet their specific goals.
My approach combines technical knowledge with creative problem-solving, ensuring that each site I build is not just functional, but genuinely enhances the user experience for all visitors.
My Journey
My career path has been anything but conventional, and that’s precisely what gives me a unique perspective as a web developer.
I began in the world of theater, earning a Master’s in Arts Administration with a focus on English and directing. This foundation in storytelling and audience engagement continues to influence how I approach website design—understanding that every great website tells a compelling story.
After moving to New York, I immersed myself in the administrative side of the arts, working in box offices at prestigious institutions including Roundabout Theater Company and Second Stage Theater. These roles taught me the importance of smooth user experiences and efficient systems—concepts that translate directly to effective web design.
Seeking new challenges, I transitioned to executive assistant roles, first at The Joyce Theater in the dance world, and then at Hudson River Park. It was at Hudson River Park where I discovered my passion for web design and development, prompting me to pursue formal education in front-end development.
My dedication and growing skills led to a promotion to Web Content Manager, where I served as project manager for the redesign of the Hudson River Park website—a comprehensive digital transformation that balanced aesthetic appeal with practical functionality.
When the pandemic arrived in 2020, I adapted once again, moving into roles focused on Digital Design and Development for major corporations including Merck and Chevron. This was when I left New York after 14 years to move to West Hollywood, CA. These experiences expanded my technical toolkit while teaching me how to navigate complex organizational requirements.
Most recently, I’ve come full circle, returning to the entertainment industry as Casting & Booth Director and Marketing Manager at The Voicecaster. In this role, I’ve developed a new website and provided social media support, combining my technical skills with my longstanding passion for the arts.
Throughout this winding journey, the common thread has been my ability to blend creativity with technical precision—creating digital experiences that are both beautiful and functional. Each career chapter has added a new dimension to my approach, allowing me to bring a rich, multifaceted perspective to every project I tackle.
Who knows what lies ahead? What I do know is that this diverse background makes me a more versatile, empathetic, and effective developer for my clients.
My Approach
Building Sites That Clients Love to Own
My approach to web development is deeply client-centered. I believe that a successful website isn’t just one that looks good or functions well—it’s one that the client is genuinely excited to own and use every day.
For Voice Actors: Getting You More Work
Having specialized in creating websites for voice actors, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities in this industry. My sites are strategically designed to showcase vocal talent effectively, present demos in the most impactful way, and ultimately help voice actors secure more bookings. I focus on creating digital portfolios that casting directors and potential clients can navigate intuitively, ensuring your talent gets the spotlight it deserves.
Technical Excellence with Personality
I bring three core strengths to every project:
- Attention to Detail: The small things matter. From consistent spacing to proper image optimization, I ensure every element is perfectly executed, creating a polished final product.
- Accessibility & Responsiveness: I believe websites should work for everyone, regardless of their abilities or devices. Every site I build is fully responsive and follows accessibility best practices, expanding your reach and ensuring compliance with current standards.
- Distinctive Character:A website should reflect the personality behind it. Whether you’re a warm and approachable voice talent or a bold and energetic performer, I craft digital experiences that authentically represent who you are—helping you stand out in a competitive market.
Collaborative & Transparent Process
I don’t just build websites for clients; I build them with clients. My development process is transparent, featuring regular check-ins, clear explanations of technical concepts, and ongoing opportunities for feedback. This collaborative approach ensures the final product truly reflects your vision and meets your specific needs.
The websites I create aren’t just digital business cards—they’re powerful tools that work around the clock to help you achieve your professional goals.
